Energy Centre and IM&T Building
This facility was required to provide a new permanent location for these services in advance of the proposed redevelopment of Whipps Cross University Hospital.
A new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Energy Centre and adjoining IM&T Building was constructed to allow the closure of the existing facilities.
The steel framed building was clad with precast concrete panels supporting a timber rainscreen composite panel system. The precast concrete elements enabled the building to achieve the required acoustic performance.
The project included a separate underground plantroom containing water and oil storage tanks.
The Contract also included a new access road, car park, drainage diversions and the construction of new underground service trenches and tunnels to distribute the steam across the whole hospital site.
