UCLH Emergency Department Extension

Design and Construction of the new infill structure between the existing UCLH Emergency Department and the EGA Wing Emergency Department at ground floor level.

The existing reinforced concrete ground floor structure was checked and proven to be capable of supporting the new lightweight steel frame and new MRI medical equipment.

The new steel columns were coordinated to fit within new internal wall lines, whilst avoid bridging the movement joint between the two original structures.

The roof steelwork was designed to avoid connection into the existing reinforced concrete structures to minimise the works to the existing cladding.
