An experienced, practical and knowledgeable Senior Structural Engineer is sought to provide technical design support for an Associate running multiple residential, mixed-use and healthcare projects. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in working on multiple project types, collaborating with design team and contractors, visiting multiple sites to undertake surveys and inspections, and be able to draw on their experience to develop simple, workable and buildable solutions to complex structural problems.
Essential criteria for the role:
Must have minimum 8yrs experience with at least 5yrs UK structural engineering experience in design of RC and Steel structures and building substructures.
Ideally CEng MIStructE or CEng MICE, or very close.
Must have experience of refurbishment & structural modification design, and new-build is also preferable.
Able to design structural elements in all the common building materials (i.e., steel, concrete, masonry and timber) using hand and approved design software such as Tedds, Tekla Structures and ideally SCIA Engineer
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of working collaboratively with clients, contractors, project managers and design consultants
Able to produce clear practical sketches and ideally have experience of using Bluebeam software
Able to plan and organise structural surveys and inspections and be able to produce well-written detailed reports and specifications
Able to problem-solve, particularly site-related matters, and to work to agreed deadlines with minimum supervision
Able to mentor graduate and junior engineers
